1. GUI/Usability Improvements

Customizable Monitor Thresholds Made Easy with the Monitor Wizard

It is now possible to specify multiple ranges per monitor to define and customize the way your monitor state works.

The monitors now support multiple defined ranges and individual severities per range. This can be used e.g. for monitor escalation depending on the measurement value. The Monitor Wizard usability has also been improved to simplify customization.

Optimized Menu Bar

The menu structure has been reworked. It is now designed to provide a clear overview that is free of clutter.

The new menu structure is based on the four “pillars” of StableNet®: Discovery & Inventory, Fault, Performance, and Configuration & Change.

Since the menu structure was reworked and might not feel intuitive yet, a new search functionality was added.

To search for a specific menu entry, you can simply use the search field on the top right of the StableNet® GUI or via the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+F.

Automated and Simplified Vulnerability & End-of-Life Management

Getting updated vulnerability and end-of-life (EoX) information no longer needs to be a tedious process. By setting up “Workflow Jobs”, you can largely automate the process at a time interval of your choosing. For more information, check out our new Tutorial Video on YouTube.

The management of vulnerability and end-of-life (EoX) information has been improved to enable a more accurate matching of affected devices. This is helpful in managing complicated version naming schemes by various manufacturers. The improvements make it far easier to test for vulnerabilities while simultaneously drastically reducing the number of entries.

2. API

Grafana integration v2 based on New Metrics API

The Grafana® data source for StableNet® is now available for Grafana® 7.

The StableNet® Grafana plugin is completely based on the new Metrics API of our REST Interface.

3. Module Enhancements

Optimized Alarm Handling

We’ve included new features for the handling of open alarms. Not only has the open alarm list been reworked for increased oversight, but the ticket integration has also been improved.

With significant usability improvements and the restructured context menu for the open alarms table, you can enjoy even greater ease-of-use when using the vendor- and technology-independent StableNet® platform.

L

Updated Weather Maps

Weather Map statistics were completely reworked. They are now based on the new metric API, making them much more powerful and flexible.

New Node and Link Statistics

User-defined, metric-based statistics are now available for nodes and links. In addition, statistical values can be displayed directly as both a label and a tooltip.
StableNet® users can also now use value ranges to define different states with severities from statistical values.

Dynamic Tooltips Charts

The dynamic tooltips charts in Weather Maps were extended. It is now possible to pre-define dynamic tooltips to show the traffic of links or availability of devices. By simply hovering over links in the Weather Map, you will automically see graphical information related to the nodes and links.

Geo Maps

By using Geo Data you are able to show Geo Maps in the StableNet® tooltip. Additionally we have created new tag categories for using Geo Data in different formats.

L

XML Discovery - Direct Tag Filter Support for Increased Automation

The use of tags helps to customize the XML Discovery process by allowing users to define the information they need from their devices. StableNet® users can now directly use tag filters in the XML Discovery (e.g. in monitor updates, overrides or delete elements). This greatly facilitates automated discovery by simplifying how devices are categorized.

Performance Upgrades to Syslog/Trap Processing

In StableNet® 10.0, we have improved the parallel handling of received syslogs and SNMP traps. By increasing the buffer size, a more scalable solution was developed that can process greater amounts of information more quickly and reliably.

Along with increased performance, the new testing and forwarding features allow you to see what forwarded messages look like before they are sent.

L

Reporting Server - Support for an all new "Sync Server"

The reporting server is an automatically, continuously updated system where measurement data, syslog, traps and monitor state changes are synchronized in real time and meta data is updated every night. The automated sync is based completely on your database.

Features:

  • Does not require running StableNet® server on destination
  • Fully configurable, supporting different use cases
  • Real time data and monitor sync, daily sync of meta data

Example Use Cases:

  • Backup/Standby system with real time data, daily sync allows to rollback accidental changes
  • Reporting Server with different storage definitions of the data (e.g. longer data storage times)
  • Cloned with partial write access (e.g. analysis system with own reporting and weathermaps)

4. Infrastructure

The All-New, Web-Based “StableNet® Portal”

A new web portal was added to StableNet® , consolidating all of your favorite online tools into a single web-based GUI. It combines the following and already existing portals:

  • Flow Portal
  • Syslog Portal
  • Weather Map Portal
  • Live Data Portal
  • Config Generator Portal

The StableNet® Portal gives you flexible access to many of your favorite features, regardless of where you’re at and doesn’t require any software to be installed. And with the new natively supported “dark mode”, it’s more graphically impressive than ever.

Non-Root Setup for Increased Security & Compliance

On nearly all new installations of StableNet®, compliance rules require running the Server or Agent as an unprivileged user. This also eases system operation since an individual account or user group can be used for working with files. Root access is no longer required for this.

By guaranteeing increased privilege control, you can significantly improve your security infrastructure.
